Bottom-Hole Pressure Measurement
ScanWell provides highly cost-effective and field proven method for determination of downhole pressure gradients in the wellbore. No wireline intervention is required, and the survey is performed with minimum production losses. ScanWell measures pressure gradients using an acoustic surveillance technique, which requires no wireline intervention, only portable instruments with a minimal footprint. The survey is completed in in a few hours, which reduces cost and minimizes production losses. An acoustic survey provides data from the whole wellbore which can be used to perform cross verification or comparison testing with downhole gauge measurement from specific depth. One acoustic measurement is sufficient to determine the gas-liquid contact in the wellbore and the gas gradient. The depth of the gas-liquid interface can be measured with improved accuracy by using reference points in the wellbore and by determination of the acoustic properties from gas compositional analysis. The liquid gradient can be measured by performing a second acoustic measurement with different conditions on the wellhead. The liquid gradient can also be calculated from oil and gas specific gravity (production data). If there is both oil and water in the wellbore, the interface between oil and water can be determined by monitoring the change in liquid gradient. Any significant anomaly in the wellbore can be identified.
