Principle of Measurement:
The EzScan System operates by generating a controlled acoustic pulse at the well surface, created through a brief pressure differential between the wellbore and an internal reference chamber. The returning echo signal provides valuable insight into wellbore geometry, integrity, and fluid interfaces.
Operating Principle
- High-pressure wells (>100 psi):
A negative pressure (implosion) pulse is created by drawing a small volume of wellbore fluid into a low-pressure chamber. - Low-pressure wells (<100 psi):
A positive pressure (explosion) pulse is produced by releasing a small quantity of high-pressure gas into the wellbore.
The resulting pressure wave travels through the wellbore at the acoustic velocity determined by the in-situ fluid or gas properties. Reflections occur at interfaces, restrictions, or material changes—each echo revealing depth and boundary characteristics.
Measurement & Data Acquisition
High-sensitivity acoustic sensors capture the reflected signals at the surface, while integrated pressure and temperature transducers continuously log wellhead conditions. Proprietary processing algorithms convert the raw waveforms into depth-correlated profiles of the wellbore.
