Downhole Fluid Level monitoring during drilling activities

Drilling, Exploration & Appraisal

New MPD techniques, like Nitrogen Gas Cap systems, and ScanWell’s EzScan enable real-time monitoring of fluid levels and pressure, enhancing safety and efficiency during drilling operations.

Enhancing Drilling Safety and Efficiency with Advanced MPD Techniques and Real-Time Monitoring

With new and improved Managed Pressure drilling (MPD) techniques such as Nitrogen Gas Cap closed loop drilling systems being more commonly deployed to explore and appraise low pressure or highly fractured reservoirs; novel techniques for rapid pressure response management indicators have been developed. Using ScanWell’s industry leading EzScan acoustic measurement system, allows an operator to monitor annuli fluid levels and BHP measurements in realtime during MPD operations from surface. This technology allows early indications of losses or hydrocarbon influx to be seen and appropriate measures taken to ensure a correct hydrostatic pressure is maintained during drilling, increasing operational efficiency and safety.
